Project Collection Cataloguer - John Constable archive (Fixed Term)
As the principal museum of the University of Cambridge and the largest cultural venue in the region, The Fitzwilliam Museum acts as a crucial bridge between the University, the City and the rest of the world, and has an international reputation for extraordinary research, world class exhibitions, award-winning public programmes and significant collections spanning many cultures and centuries. The Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI) is a sub-department of the museum and is one of the world's leading centres for teaching and research in paintings conservation and heritage science.
The fixed term Project Collections Cataloguer (John Constable archive) will work directly with archival material related to British artist John Constable (1776-1837), the printmaker David Lucas (1802-1881) and their project, the 'English Landscape', including handwritten correspondence and printed documents. The project is funded by a Paul Mellon Centre conservation grant to author and input catalogue information in the museum database for publication to online Collections search.
The purpose of this role is to catalogue the archive relating to John Constable, creating and authoring new Axiell/Adlib collections catalogue records, including descriptions and other fields to ensure compliance with SPECTRUM standards.
The role holder will create basic catalogue records according to a newly implemented ISAD (G) framework using Axiell/Adlib. They will work closely with curatorial staff, photographic, and digital to undertake this cataloguing and source transcription, working to a plan and timetable set by the Documentation Manager.
The role holder will be experienced in working with, and the safe handling of, collections and will have understanding of authoring catalogue records. They will be self-motivated with the ability to moderate their own workload.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 5 months in the first instance.
