Visitor Experience Host (Part Time)
Be a part of something amazing...
As the principal museum of the University of Cambridge and the largest cultural venue in the region, The Fitzwilliam Museum acts as a crucial bridge between the University, the City and the rest of the world, and has an international reputation for extraordinary research, world class exhibitions, award-winning public programmes and significant collections spanning many cultures and centuries.
We are looking to expand our team of Visitor Experience Hosts, and are seeking team players who love working with people, have excellent visitor/customer services skills and experience, ideally gained in a museum, arts, heritage, tourism or retail setting.
As a Visitor Experience Host you will strive to deliver a world-class visitor experience by engaging fully with our guests and telling the stories of our collection and exhibitions. You will offer a warm welcome to all visitors of the Museum, from school groups and tourists to museum aficionados and visiting scholars. From that initial greeting, to actively assisting with wayfinding and acting as gallery hosts, you will ensure visitors get the most out of their visit, personifying the principles of our visitor experience charter. You will ensure high standards of communication with our visitors, being clear, consistent, welcoming and friendly, from the moment they arrive to when they leave. As well as delivering exceptional customer service you will also be responsible for the safety of our visitors and collection, adhering to all standard operating procedures and emergency plans.
As part of this role, you will be required to work as part of seven-day rota, with considerable weekend working. There will also be an opportunity to undertake additional 'event shifts' in evening and other out-of-hours events.
We are particularly looking for:
A flexible customer focused approach, with high standards of visitor service
Excellent people skills, enabling strong relationships, both externally and internally
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
The ability to be welcoming and friendly while ensuring a safe and secure environment for people and collections
We offer an encouraging and supportive environment, an attractive pension scheme and many employee benefits such as a shopping discounts scheme.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
Closing date for applications: 23rd June 2024
Interviews for the role will be held: 26th June 2024
